Farmer Bazaar Journal exists because we were frustrated readers before we were writers. We spent years searching for gardening advice online, only to find the same recycled listicles repeated across dozens of near-identical sites, written by people who, as far as we could tell, had never actually grown the plant they were writing about. This Editorial Policy explains exactly how we try to do things differently — how we research, write, fact-check, update, and disclose our content, so that you can judge for yourself whether our process earns your trust.
How We Choose Topics
Nearly every article on this Site starts from something one of our team members is actively growing, has recently grown, or is actively troubleshooting in their own garden. We do not select topics purely because they are trending keywords with high search volume; a topic earns an article because someone on our team has enough direct, hands-on experience with it — or is willing to build that experience specifically to write about it responsibly — to say something genuinely useful.
How We Research and Test
Before publishing advice on a soil mix, watering schedule, pest treatment, or planting technique, someone on our team has typically:
1. Applied the technique or product to an actual plant, pot, or plot in their own growing space
2. Tracked the outcome over a meaningful period — usually several weeks at minimum, and often a full growing season for claims about yield or long-term plant health
3. Taken dated photographs or notes documenting what actually happened, including failures and unexpected results, not just successes
4. Compared their observations against what recognized horticultural sources say, to check whether their individual experience aligns with, or differs from, general expectations
Where a claim touches on plant science, soil chemistry, or biology beyond what we can directly observe (for example, the precise chemical mechanism by which a soil amendment affects nutrient uptake), we research and cite established agricultural extension resources, university horticulture publications, and peer-reviewed sources rather than presenting speculation as settled fact.
Originality Standards
Every article published on Farmer Bazaar Journal is written originally by our team, specifically for this publication. We do not publish:
• Content generated primarily by AI tools and passed off as personally tested advice
• Scraped or lightly reworded versions of other publishers' articles
• Duplicate content published elsewhere under a different byline
• Thin, low-value pages created solely to target search-engine keywords without genuine informational value
Where we reference statistics, studies, or claims from external sources, we cite or link to that source directly, so readers can verify the underlying information themselves rather than simply trusting our summary of it.
Our Review and Fact-Checking Process
Before an article is published, it passes through the following checks:
Step 1 — Draft from direct experience. The writer drafts the article based on their own notes, observations, and (where relevant) dated photos from their own garden.
Step 2 — Cross-check against reference sources. Any factual claims about plant biology, chemistry, or general horticultural science are checked against recognized reference material.
Step 3 — Internal review. A second team member with relevant experience reviews the draft for accuracy, clarity, and whether the advice given genuinely reflects what a reader in similar conditions is likely to experience.
Step 4 — Publish with author context. Where relevant, we note the specific conditions under which our results were achieved (season, region, plant variety), so readers can judge how closely their own situation matches ours.
How We Handle Updates and Corrections
Gardening advice is not static. Product formulations change, our own understanding deepens with more growing seasons, and sometimes we simply get something wrong. When we learn that an article needs updating, we:
1. Review the specific claim or section flagged as outdated or incorrect
2. Re-test where practical, or research further where retesting isn't feasible in the short term
3. Update the article directly, with a visible note indicating what changed and when
4. Thank the reader who flagged the issue, where they've identified themselves, because reader feedback is one of our most valuable accuracy checks
We aim to complete this review-and-correction process within 5 business days of being notified of a potential inaccuracy, via our Contact page or by emailing editorial@farmerbazaar.shop directly.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial opinions, recommendations, and conclusions are formed independently of any advertiser, sponsor, or commercial relationship. No advertiser has any input into what topics we cover, what conclusions we draw, or what we recommend. We do not accept payment in exchange for positive coverage of any product, service, or company.
Sponsored Content and Review Products Disclosure
If we ever publish sponsored content, or receive a free product from a company for the purpose of testing and reviewing it, this will always be clearly and prominently disclosed at the very top of the relevant article — never buried in fine print at the bottom. A sponsored relationship never guarantees positive coverage; if a product performs poorly in our testing, we say so, sponsorship or not.
Advertising and Editorial Separation
This Site is supported in part by third-party advertising, including through Google AdSense, which helps fund the time we spend testing methods and writing in-depth content. Advertisements are always visually distinguishable from our editorial content — they are never disguised as articles, and they never influence which topics we choose to cover or what conclusions our articles reach.
Author Expertise and Attribution
Our core contributors bring a combination of formal training (including agricultural science backgrounds in soil science and plant pathology) and many years of direct, hands-on home-gardening experience across different Indian climate zones. Where an article covers a specialized topic, it is generally written or reviewed by the team member with the most relevant direct experience in that area.
How to Report a Concern
If you believe any article on this Site contains an inaccuracy, an outdated recommendation, or a claim that doesn't hold up in your own growing conditions, we want to hear about it. Email us at editorial@farmerbazaar.shop with the article title, the specific claim in question, and, if possible, your own experience or the source that contradicts it. We treat every such message as an opportunity to make our content more accurate and useful, and we follow up personally on every report we receive.
